Homeopathy (the use of plants and minerals as medicine) has been around for thousands of years. Are you struggling to lose or manage your current weight, but aren’t interested in taking diuretics or other store-bought drugs? Find out why a homeopathic remedy for weight loss such as apple cider vinegar (ACV) with the mother could be right for you.
People try “diet plans”, but many times, quit after only a number of days or weeks. This happens usually because people force themselves to drastically change eating and lifestyle habits, then have a diet crash.
Of course, a healthy weight comes from varied physical activity, paired with overall healthy eating and lots of water. Are you doing all of this and still not seeing results? What if you could simply add something to your water that helped you lose and manage your weight?
Homeopathic Medicine for Weight Loss
Vinegar is diluted, natural acetic acid, which can be a natural alternative to modern medicine in fighting obesity. Along with this, cider (fruit) vinegars have other organic acids, minerals and vitamins that white, distilled (household) vinegar doesn’t.
Specifically, foods that produce vinegar, such as apples, have nutrients to help maintain a healthy weight due to their large amounts of polyphenols.
- only found in plant-based foods such as fruits and vegetables; organic compounds
- micronutrients that carry different types of antioxidants
- help the body to repair cells and fight fat (lipid) build-up
Table 3 and Table 4 show the variety of acids in vinegars. A different Table 3 shows phenolic (antioxidant) compounds in eight different ACVs. Clearly, raw cider vinegar, such as apple vinegar, carries high amounts of polyphenols, which gives the body a high dose of antioxidants.
In addition to antioxidants, the mother found in raw vinegar is acetic acid bacteria, full of probiotic strains (healthy bacteria). Therefore, it is very crucial to drink raw ACV and not pasteurized ACV, as it has a much higher amount of nutrients. Likewise, the probiotics and organic acids in raw cider vinegar can help to lose weight in different ways.
Why would anyone want to drink white or balsamic vinegar every day? ACV with the mother (raw; unfiltered; unprocessed; unpasteurized) is a cheap and flavorful, organic substance that can not only aid in weight loss weight management, but can improve your health overall.
Homeopathic Weight Loss
There has been much research on animals and humans regarding weight loss/management connected to vinegar.
- Studies involving rats and mice, as well as humans, showed significant fat reduction with ACV.
- Decrease carbohydrate absorption to curb weight gain.
- Suppress your appetite and food intake, thereby consuming few calories.
- Possibly decrease water weight and reduce bloating. (Has not been proven in any clinical trial).
- Certain probiotic strains have resulted in weight gain in humans, although this strand is not found in raw ACV.
- Human participants claimed drinking vinegar decreased their appetite and food intake, only because vinegar made them nauseous.
However, the human study is not an accurate representation of weight loss with vinegar. To start, participants drank white wine vinegar which is not as flavorful as ACV. Two, the vinegar’s acetic acid content was 6%, unlike 5% found in stores. Three, the participants waited three hours from when they drank the vinegar until they ate. Why would anyone drink vinegar and then wait three hours to eat?
Many people have come forward regarding their weight loss success with drinking raw ACV water.
- Paige Mariah: She gets right to the point and shows you her daily ACV drink recipe. It helped her lose 30 pounds, along with clean eating and exercise.
- Dr. Oz talks about his viewers’ success losing weight with a daily ACV drink.
- Dr. Berg explains how the acetic acid in vinegar benefits the body.
Not convinced yet? Along with weight loss, drinking raw ACV water daily can give the body countless internal health benefits. |
Other weight loss homeopathy exists such as calcarea carbonica, natrum mur, and nux vomica. Although, how cheap, easy, and tasty is it to splash some ACV in your water glass or thermos every day?
Homeopathic Diet
Important note: Drinking raw apple cider vinegar (ACV with the mother) will not solely help with obesity or a sedentary lifestyle. Remember, it is an aide in weight loss and weight management.
You can very well drink pasteurized vinegar, but just know that you will not get the same results as you would with mother vinegar. If you are doing something for your wellness, don’t take the cheap way out. Raw vinegar is the only way to go in terms of health benefits. Your insides will thank you.
Find a ratio of raw ACV to water you are comfortable drinking. Start by adding a teaspoon per glass of water. Three teaspoons equal one tablespoon.
- One glass first thing in the morning before food to jumpstart metabolism
- A glass 20-30 minutes before every carb-filled meal to decrease carbohydrate absorption and suppress my appetite
- During and after a workout to further enhance fat burning
- Weigh yourself at the exact same time every day naked to give yourself the best estimate.
- When going out to eat or on vacation, bring a vial of raw ACV with you to drink in the morning and before high-carb meals. The pictures below show TSA approved 3.53 oz. vials to bring on a plane, or you can recycle other toiletry bottles you have. Obviously, if you are checking luggage, you can pack more ACV if needed.
Apple Cider Vinegar Homeopathic Weight Loss
During a three-month trial I drank a ratio of one teaspoon mother-infused ACV to eight ounces of water. I followed the guidelines of drinking raw ACV water above to see if it helped me lose weight. On Day 0 my weight was 139 pounds. Day 90 I was 133 pounds. Unfortunately, I did a few things wrong that can prove my three-month study inconclusive.
- Many times, I forgot to drink ACV water before a high carb meal.
- As time went on, I was irresponsible about weighing myself at the exact time every day. Even though I weighed myself right before dinner, a lot of times I forgot and did after.
- Most days I did not drink a glass first thing in the morning before food because I was taking Adderall. Citric acid can interfere with stimulants. After my experiment was over, I realized the best course of action to have both.

Nevertheless, drinking ACV before high-carb meals did help me drop a few pounds. It’s clear my weight fluctuated when I ate high-carb meals, but in the end, I consistently dropped five pounds.
For many people, only losing five pounds in three months is not acceptable. Although, drinking ACV also proves to be effective in weight management, not just weight loss. If you struggle with belly fat, ACV can help you not gain more weight while actively working to lose it. I am doing another three-month experiment now and weighing myself first thing in the morning. This will give me a better sense if drinking ACV indeed does help with weight loss.
Apple Cider Vinegar Weight Loss Tips
- Always dilute ACV with water. Medical experts highly advise not to consume more than two tablespoons (six teaspoons) in one day. Vinegar is acidic. Large quantities of it or drinking it undiluted can lead to stomach issues and other problems.
- If your stomach can handle it, add at least two teaspoons ACV to one glass of water before high-carb meals. (Three teaspoons equals one tablespoon.)
Greater weight loss effects were proven when participants drank two tablespoons, as opposed to one tablespoon with high-carb meals. Make a plan for yourself. If you know you will be having a high-carb meal or two, (maybe you’re on vacation), try not to go over two tablespoons a day. Even if you do go over two tablespoons, it’s okay, just don’t make it a habit.
- Indeed, every human body is different. A review of human trials show varied weight loss results. Therefore, what may work for one person, may not work for another.
- Always consult with your doctor first if you have any pre-existing conditions or take daily medicine. Do not drink ACV while taking diuretics or other weight loss drugs, insulin or other diabetes treatment, or Lanoxin. Your potassium levels could dip. Are you taking any prescriptions such as a stimulant? Citric acid can affect stimulant medication such as Adderall.
If drinking raw ACV doesn’t help you with your weight, it can benefit you in other ways, such as strengthen your immune system. |
